Alessandro del Piero has rejected an approach from AC Ajaccio to join the Ligue 1 outfit.
New Ajaccio manager Fabrizio Ravanelli, a former team-mate of Del Piero's at Juventus, was keen to re-unite with the Italian legend after his starring role for A-League's Sydney FC last season.
According to a statement on the club's official website, discussions with the 38-year-old veteran had taken place but they were unable to convince him to leave Australia.
It read: "For several weeks now, the club have been in advanced talks with famous Italian striker Alessandro del Piero.
"He will not be coming to AC Ajaccio. Due to family matters, he has decided to continue his adventure in Australia."
