Manchester City agree €27 million fee with Fiorentina for Jovetic

Manchester City have agreed a €27 million plus add-ons deal with Fiorentina for attacker Stevan Jovetic.

Stevan Jovetic

The 23-year-old's agent, Fali Ramadani, is set to travel to Manchester to meet with City sporting director Txiki Begiristain in the next 24 hours, with club officials confident of completing the move following those talks.

City have agreed to a package that meets Fiorentina's €30m (£26m) asking price, with €27m (£23.3m) set to be paid up front and a further €3m (£2.6m) to be paid in performance-related bonuses.

Jovetic visited the Fanfani Medical Centre in Florence for tests on Monday, accompanied by the Serie A side's doctor, Jacopo Giuliattini.

City, who have sent a large group of staff to South Africa as part of their pre-season tour, also conducted similar assessments on Jesus Navas in Seville before his €21m move to the Etihad Stadium in June.

Jovetic was later followed by Mario Gomez, who is set to complete his transfer from Bayern Munich to the Florence outfit imminently.

Ramadani met with Begiristain at Mottram Hall last week to discuss terms, with City set to pay Jovetic an £80,000-a-week salary package on arrival in Manchester.

The clubs have maintained a good relationship harboured following Stefan Savic's move from Manchester to Fiorentina last summer.

City are set for disappointment with regards to Alvaro Negredo, however, whom they had hoped to secure in a double swoop alongisde JoveticThe Sevilla attacker is rated as having a "one per cent" chance of joining Manuel Pellegrini's side by the Spanish club's president, Jose Maria del Nido.

Manchester City close in on Jovetic

Manchester City are set to take their summer spending to over €104 million after moving closer to securing both Fiorentina attacker Stevan Jovetic and Sevilla forward Alvaro NegredoGoal understands.

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain has not travelled with the squad on their pre-season tour of South Africa as he looks to tie up deals for the pair, who emerged as top targets in recent weeks after missing out on Isco to Real Madrid and Edinson Cavani, who is close to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

City officials met with Jovetic's agent, Fali Ramadani, at Mottram Hall in Cheshire on Wednesday, with both parties keen to discuss a deal to bring the 23-year-old to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

The Premier League runners-up no longer have first option on the Montenegro international following the sacking of Roberto Mancini in May, but have maintained their long-standing interest in the attacker, who they see as a viable alternative to Isco.

Goal understands that Jovetic would receive an €92,000-a-week salary package at City, and club officials are confident of tying up a move in the coming days with Fiorentina happy to maintain their close links to City, harboured following Stefan Savic's move to Serie A last summer.

Meanwhile, City have also received the green light to complete a €23m move for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo after the Spanish side confirmed the signing of Carlos Bacca from Club Brugge.

Colombian Bacca has been brought in by Sevilla chief Monchi as a replacement to Negredo, who will see his salary doubled to €87,000-a-week in Manchester.
Sevilla and City have maintained a strong relationship following Jesus Navas' €21m move to the Etihad earlier this summer, and the Premier League outfit have agreed to meet the Spanish outfit's asking price.

Negredo emerged as City's key striker target after the club refused to meet Cavani's €63 million buyout clause at Napoli and baulked at his €290,000-a-week salary demands. The Uruguayan is close to completing a move to the French capital following discussions over his personal terms.

Jovetic and Negredo would be City's third and fourth major signings of the summer re,spectively, with Navas and Fernandinho having already been secured in June prior to Pellegrini's appointment

Mario Gomez has signed for Fiorentina from Bayern Munich

The club have agreed a deal in principle with the Viola and the move will be finalised in the coming days

Bayern Munich have announced an agreement in principle has been reached with Fiorentina over the transfer of Mario Gomez.

The Germany international struggled for regular first-team football at the Allianz Arena last season after losing his starting berth to team-mate Mario Mandzukic.

The move will be officially completed within the next couple of days following talks on Monday between Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Viola president Andrea Della Valle.

"It was the desire of Mario Gomez to leave Bayern Munich for Florence. We have now complied with his wish," Rummenigge told the club's official website.

"He has made a major contribution to two German championships and two DFB Pokal victories. The highlight was of course the Champions League victory and winning the treble last season.

"I would like to thank him for his Bayern performances. On behalf of the club, I wish him luck and success in Florence!"

Gomez became the most expensive player in Bundesliga history when he signed for Bayern from Stuttgart in 2009 for €30 million. Since then Javi Martinez and Mario Gotze - both Bayern players - have surpassed that milestone.

Gomez played 174 games for Bayern, scoring 113 goals.

The striker becomes Fiorentina's eighth acquisition this summer having landed among others, goalkeeper Gustavo Munua; defender Marcos Alonso; and midfielders Massimo Ambrosini, Juan Cuadardo and Joaquin.

Hellas Verona have signed veteran striker Luca Toni to a one-year contract following his departure from Fiorentina.

Toni, 36, makes the newly-promoted Serie A club the 15th destination of a 19-year senior career that includes notable spells with Palermo, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Fiorentina became the only club to employ Toni for a second time when he returned to Tuscany last summer but, after scoring eight league goals in 27 league appearances in the 2012-13 campaign, he has now opted to join Andrea Mandorlini's cause at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
A statement published on hellasverona.it read: "Hellas Verona have acquired the sporting rights of Luca Toni. The striker, born in 1977, has signed a one-year contract."
Toni scored 16 goals in 47 appearances for Italy and was part of the World Cup-winning squad of 2006. His club honours include a Bundesliga title and German Cup with Bayern and the Serie A Golden Boot for his 31-goal haul for Fiorentina in the 2005-06 season.
The Gialloblu have already signed midfielder Massimo Donati from Palermo and defender Alejandro Gonzalez from Penarol in preparation for a first top-flight outing since 2002.
Friday also saw Hellas confirm the signings of defenders Francesco Zampano, Filippo De Col and goalkeeper Daniele Borra - a trio of youth prospects from Lega Pro club Virtus Entella.
